cancer counselling

women with headscarfWe have been providing one to one cancer counselling as part of our overall cancer programme since 1995.

Counsellors see both men and women who have received a cancer diagnosis and are also available to meet with family members.

background to the counselling

Recent years have seen the widespread acceptance that often people who have been given a cancer diagnosis are more able to cope with treatments and changes to their lives with the support of a counsellor.

We set up our cancer counselling service to help:

  • those who have been diagnosed, and
  • those who have been affected by a diagnosis of a family member or friend

How the service operates

The cancer counselling service covers the North West region including:

  • Derry
  • Donegal
  • Omagh
  • Coleraine

There is no charge for the service but there may be a waiting time between referral and your first appointment. Each member of our team has completed a Certificate in Cancer Counselling.
