member structure diagramThe Cross Border Women’s Health Network has six broad aims.

Aim 1

The project aims to develop a Cross Border Women’s Health Network of 37 organisations who will work together to improve health status and reduce the exclusion which fosters health inequalities by

  • developing a shared vision of an interdependent and fair society for the North West of Ireland – focussing on our distinctive circumstance including that of being a post conflict Cross Border area and the impact on our health status of this particular circumstance.
  • promoting reconciliation at three levels – cross border, cross sectoral and between those groups already targeted in “Other Borders”, i.e. Target Groups (Travellers, Lone Parents, Ethnic Minorities, Older Women and Women living in areas of Poverty).

Aims 2 and 3 - Research

To gather the voices of women (local, national and international) in post-conflict societies and from border areas to further understanding on the impact of both the conflict and the border on well-being.

aim 3
To promote and foster a culture of research, mutual learning and an evidence based approach in the development of post conflict and Cross Border work as well as work in communities and with women.

Aims 4 and 5 - Action to Reduce Exclusion

To develop a shared vision for the North West of Ireland to reduce Exclusion and promote Equality and co-ordinate cross border action to realise that vision.

aim 5
To promote reconciliation across three levels: cross border, cross sectoral and cross communities.

Aim 6 - Advocacy and Campaigning

To co-ordinate collective and individual action on both sides of the border in furtherance of the aims of the Network and in accordance with research findings and the Anti-Exclusion Action Plan.
