Our counselling service is only possible because of the time, dedication and commitment given by our counsellors. Our service is delivered by 19 counsellors who have a Diploma in Counselling and who are either accredited or are pursuing accreditation. Counselling was one of the first services offered by Derry Well Women. It remains key to our commitment to developing programmes by listening to women. Each of our counselling services is compliant with best practice.

Our Counselling Service

The Counselling Service is available for women want to explore and clarify personal issues in a safe and non-judgemental environment. Counselling is a one-to-one service which can help women deal with a range of issues including the effects of trauma, sexual abuse, relationships, eating disorders, depression and anxiety. Derry Well Women provides a service for women who have been directly affected by our Troubled past. Access to the service is by self-referral. All women referring themselves for counselling will be assessed by a counsellor prior to commencing their counselling. The Derry Well Women Counselling Service is run in accordance with best practice as described by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Cancer Counselling

This counselling service is available for women who have received a cancer diagnosis, and is provided by a specially trained team who have completed a Certificate in Cancer Counselling. Derry Well Women also works in partnership with Action Cancer whose counsellor is available to see the friends, family and carers of those with a cancer diagnosis on a Monday evening. As part of our Cancer Counselling Service, women can also avail of one-to-one complementary therapy sessions. To make an appointment for any of the above services please contact the centre on: 02871360777.
